The 36th Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachment (FRSD) conducted Operation Nomad from May 30 to June 1, 2024, focusing on synchronizing Damage Control Surgery (DCS) and Damage Control Resuscitation (DCR) in austere environments. The Field Training Exercise (FTX) involved split teams tackling logistical challenges with the help of a moulage team, Observer Coach Trainers, critical care nurses, and emergency physicians. Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists stood in as anesthesia providers. The exercise aimed at preparing the unit for real-world scenarios, managing critical patients, and testing communication plans. Leadership emphasized the importance of realistic training for mission readiness. Major Carlos Gonzalez praised the team's performance under operational constraints. SMEs played a critical role in reviewing scenarios and addressing knowledge gaps. The exercise fostered a unique training platform, benefiting future missions for the 36th FRSD and other units.
