Fort Hunter Liggett celebrated the launch of its new microgrid, the first Department of Defense installation to operate entirely on renewable energy, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by key military and civilian leaders. The microgrid, which uses solar power and battery storage, ensures the base can operate independently for up to 14 days during power outages, significantly enhancing its energy resilience. Brig. Gen. Christopher Cook praised the project as a model for future Army initiatives, highlighting its role in advancing energy security and sustainability across military installations.
