Sub-heading: Fort Knox’s 100th Army Band performed in Normandy on the 80th Anniversary of D-Day
The 100th Army Band, a U.S. Army Reserve band stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and nicknamed the “Band of the Century”, recently returned from France, where members performed in a series of concerts throughout Normandy. The concerts commemorated the 80th anniversary of U.S. Forces troop landings on D-Day, June 6, 1944, when U.S. Soldiers stormed the beaches against intense German fire. The performances also marked the first time the 100th AB has traveled overseas since World War II, when the band was the band for the 100th Infantry Division.
