**Change of Command at 5th Armored Brigade**
On July 10, 2024, Fort Bliss, Texas, hosted a change of command ceremony for the 5th Armored Brigade. Col. Johnny R. Sutton III, after 28 years of distinguished service, passed the command to Col. Douglas F. Serie. Maj. Gen. William A. Ryan III presided, praising Sutton's exceptional leadership and dedication. Sutton, a University of Tennessee graduate and Army War College alumnus, recently served in Afghanistan and led the brigade since June 2022. Sutton's legacy was celebrated as he received the Legion of Merit and a final salute. Col. Serie, expressing gratitude and commitment, pledged to continue the brigade's tradition of excellence in training Army Reserve and National Guard units.
